Becoming a fellow has made me hold myself to a higher standard creatively, but it also gives me that real sense of a village, uplifting and supporting. It's a level of support that can catapult you on so many levels.

[Fellowships are] a touchstone and testament to their remarkable ingenuity and dedication to the advancement of the culture of Metro Detroit. This prize is not just financially helpful, it also provides invaluable support and development which will surely enrich the future of their artistic lives.

The Fellowship has changed the way I see myself and my art. It has made me see the value in what it is that I do. I have a new perspective on who I am as an artist and what I have to offer and what the value of that thing I have to offer is.

Looking ahead to the next 15 years, Kresge Arts in Detroit will continue to champion abundant, unrestricted investment, consistent exhibition and performance opportunities, and other conditions that are necessary for artists to truly thrive.
