Ellen Coons is a freelance animator and illustrator based in Detroit. Her short films, created mostly with a digital still camera using stop-motion animation techniques, are colorful, imaginative and original. She is inspired by the endless possibilities of stop-motion animation, including manipulating texture, light, color, sound, story, and motion, and the opportunity to renounce control and capture what already exists, including unplanned elements such as dust, water, and found objects. Ellen earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Character Animation from the College for Creative Studies (CCS) in 2012, and now teaches part-time at CCS.
