Andrew “AndyT” Thompson

Andrew “AndyT” Thompson is an installation artist, educator, curator, musician, and labor activist. He grew up in Kansas City, Missouri and moved to Michigan in 2004 to earn his MFA in sculpture from Cranbrook Academy of Art. Thompson has exhibited his sculptures and installations throughout the Midwest for the past two decades. He has curated many exhibitions as an exhibition committee member of Detroit Artists Market, Ann Arbor Art Center, and the Paint Creek Center for the Arts. Thompson served on the board of directors for Hatch Art in Hamtramck from 2016-2018. He is a lecturer at the University of Michigan, a proud member of the Lecturers’ Employee Organization, AFT-MI 6244, and shares a studio with 14 other artists in Southwest Detroit, three blocks from his house.
